How Was Amber From The Teen Mom Show Able To Get An Apartment For Only $475 A Month?? And Get A Job?
Before you say anything, I know there is section 8, but in this state (Maryland) there is a waiting list for YEARS to get on it, and even if you DO get on it the rent will still be like $500, compared with my mom and sister who are living with a woman in Albany NY and said their rent is only like $88! And they EASILY got on section 8! I don’t know how they did it. Plus a lot of other people are with a guy and have kids, which is also discouraging because I would like to have kids of my own, and it seems more like they give them priority over other people.
Andyhow, I am in southern Maryland, which is still a really long drive (over 60 miles) to DC, and even the cheapest worst apartments around here are still $700 per month without section 8. You would think in a rural area like this, and where there are no jobs, apartments would be cheaper, but they are still that much. For the record I have a 4 year college degree and graduated college in May 2008! and STILL I can’t find a job, plus I am just living in a messed up mobile home with my dad and brother, which still costs $680 per month, and since none of us can get jobs (my dad won’t even TRY to get a job and actually tries to DISCOURAGE me from getting one) we don’t have any money for anything at all other than bills; we just have to use food stamps for food and wear the same clothes we have for years.
Also my brother and I can’t drive although I am 23 and he is 25, because Maryland makes everyone take driver ed and the course costs $325. So the only way I have to get anywhere is to ride with my dad, and he refuses to drive me places to see about jobs because he just claims I won’t end up getting one.
So I just want to know how is it that Amber on that teen mom show was able to go several places and find inexpensive apartments, when I can’t even find ANYTHING for less than $700 per month. I even heard one quoted on that show as only $300 something a month! I would KILL for that! Also, she just got a GED and applied for a job, and it actually showed someone CALLING her about the job, when NO ONE EVER offers me a job even with my COLLEGE DEGREE! AND I DO call them back after I apply, but they just keep giving me the runaround.
There is no point in me living in this rural area if things are even MORE difficult and expensive here than they would even be in an accesible major city like Albany NY where my sister and mom live with her friend. But my dad doesn’t want to leave Maryland or drive anywhere unfamiliar, and we can’t even move because since none of us can get a job we can’t afford anything else, and there is nothing I can find less expensive than our current mobile home payment of $680 per month.
